Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 35(a), but using 113 mg of ethyl 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)-2-propylimidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in Preparation 23(iii)], 280 mg of 4-[2-(trityltetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]benzyl bromide and 60 mg of potassium t-butoxide, 255 mg of the title compound were obtained as a viscous oil. The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrum of this compound was identical with that of the compound obtained as described in Example 40(b).
