Vorschrift

A mixture of 1 g. 2,6-diphenyl-4-phenacylidene-4H-pyran, 1.3 g. of 4-methylflavylium perchlorate and 20 ml. of acetic anhydride was refluxed for 15 minutes, chilled and the solid was collected and purified by extraction. The resultant product had a melting point of 299°-300° C. and was identified as the above-noted pyrylium salt having an empirical formula of C41H29ClO6.
