Vorschrift

Using the general procedure of Example 1, 225 grams of 2-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-2H-benzotriazole, 65 ml of methanesulfonic acid and 188 ml of 1-decene are heated at 160° C. for a 5-hour period during which time anoher 564 ml of 1-decane is gradually added to the reaction mixture. The mixture is then cooled and the product isolated by the method described in Example 1 to give 183 grams of the above-named product as a yellow liquid.
