Vorschrift

0.4 L of water, 241.50 g of sodium hydroxide, 9 L of acetone and 1 Kg of metformin hydrochloride were added to a 20 L reactor, and stirred for 2 hours and 40 minutes at room temperature. The resulting crystal was filtered and washed with acetone. 0.2 L of water and 1 L of acetic acid were added and stirred. The resulting crystal was filtered and washed with acetone, and then dried at 60° C. to obtain 1,056 g of metformin acetate (yield: 92.4%).
