The title compound (0.19 g) was prepared from 1.51 g of 4-oxo-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester, 1.0 mL of 4-methoxybenzylamine, and 1.13 g of (2-nitro-vinyl)-benzene, using EtOH as the solvent and omitting SiO2. MS (ESI): exact mass calculated for C21H22N2O, 318.17. found, m/z 319.2 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD): 7.39-7.30 (m, 4H), 7.20-7.15 (m, 1H), 7.14-7.11 (m, 2H), 7.08 (s, 1H), 6.90-6.87 (m, 2H), 5.05 (s, 2H), 4.34 (s, 2H), 3.50 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 2.88 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H).
