The title compound (136.8 mg) was prepared from 0.53 g of 4-oxo-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester, 300 μL of benzylamine, and 0.41 g of 2-(2-nitro-vinyl)-thiophene. MS (ESI): exact mass calculated for C18H18N2S, 294.12; found, m/z 295.2 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD): 7.36-7.32 (m, 2H), 7.30-7.26 (m, 1H), 7.22 (dd, J=5.2, 1.1 Hz, 1H), 7.18-7.15 (m, 2H), 7.12 (s, 1H), 7.02 (dd, J=5.2, 3.6 Hz, 1H), 6.94 (dd, J=3.6, 1.1 Hz, 1H), 5.13 (s, 2H), 4.34 (s, 2H), 3.49 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H), 2.85 (t, J=6.3 Hz, 2H).
