Vorschrift

4.1 g of methyl 2-mercapto-4-methyl-1,3-thiazol-5-yl-acetate were dissolved in 50 ml of DMF and, in the presence of 5 g of ground potassium carbonate, 5.1 g of methyl 2-bromomethylbenzoate were added dropwise. After the evolution of heat had subsided, the mixture was stirred for 1 h, filtered, and DMF was removed in a rotary evaporator. The residue was taken up in ethyl acetate and washed 2× with water. The organic phase was dried, and the solvent was removed in vacuo. 5.6 g of an oil were obtained.
