1 mmol of 1-(4-ethylphenyl)-2-imidazolylethan-1-one was heated to 80° C. in N,N-dimethylformamidedimethyl acetal for six hours and concentrated in vacuo to obtain (2E)-3-(dimethylamino)-1-(4-ethylphenyl)-2-imidazolylprop-2-en-1-one.
