Vorschrift

To a solution of (5-bromo-4-isopropoxy-3-methyl-1-benzofuran-2-yl) methanol (0.3 g, 1 mmole) in 10 mL dichloromethane was added 0.73 mL of thionyl chloride and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was concentrated in vacuo, the residue was added toluene to provide 0.33 g of 5-bromo-4-isopropoxy-3-methyl-2-chloromethyl-1-benzofuran.
