4-Chloro-6-(5-chloro-2-methyl-phenyl)-2-methyl-pyrimidine was prepared according to the method described in Example 38 for the synthesis of 4-chloro-6-(5-chloro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-2-methyl-pyrimidine in two steps using 3-(5-chloro-2-methyl-phenyl)-3-oxopropionic acid ethyl ester and acetamidine hydrochloride (11% yield). 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 2.36 (s, 3H, CH3), 2.68 (s, 3H, CH3), 7.40 (d, 1H, J=8.3 Hz, Ar), 7.49 (dd, 1H, J=8.3 Hz, J=2.3 Hz, Ar), 7.57 (d, 1H, J=2.3 Hz, Ar), 7.79 (s, 1H, Ar).
