Vorschrift

5-Benzyloxy-2-(N,N-dimethylamino)methyl-4-pyridone 1.0 g) in methanol (15 ml) was subjected to catalytic reduction with 10% palladium on activated carbon (200 mg) at atmospheric pressure. After removal of catalyst, the solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 2-(N,N-dimethylamino)methyl-5-hydroxy-4-pyridone (0.96 g).
