Vorschrift

Benzyloxyacetyl chloride (6.3 mL, 40 mmol) is added to a solution of DL-phenylglycine (3.00 g, 19.8 mmol) and NaOH (2.32 g, 58.0 mmol) in 100 mL H2O and allowed to stir overnight. The reaction pH is adjusted to 11 with 3M NaOH 5 and washed with (3×50 mL) Et2O, then brought to pH=3 with concentrated HCl. The resulting precipitate is collected, washed with H2O and dried to obtain the title compound as an off-white solid. mp 127°-30° C.
