Vorschrift

A living poly(isoprene/styrene/isoprene) three block copolymer was prepared by polymerizing isoprene (151.3 g) in cyclohexane (1362 g) solution. Polymerization was initiated by the addition of 79.5 ml of a 95 mmole/liter solution of secondary butyllithium. The reaction was continued for 2.5 hours at 50° C. The living polyisoprene (number average molecular weight 25,600) solution formed was then reacted with styrene (37.9 g) and the reaction was continued for a further 2.5 hours at 50° C. The living poly(isoprene/styrene) block copolymer (number average molecular weight 31,200) solution formed was then reacted with a further amount of isoprene (151.3 g) and the reaction was continued for a further 2.5 hours at 50° C. The number average molecular weight of the living poly(isoprene/styrene/isoprene) block copolymer was 54,400.
