Vorschrift

11.2 g (0.06 mol) of p,p'-biphenol and 5.4 g (0.02 mol) of 4-octyloxybenzoyl chloride derived from 4-octyloxybenzoic acid were dissolved in 100 ml of dried pyridine, which were stirred at room temperature for a night. After the completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was added with 6 normal hydrochloric acid to adjust pH to not more than 1 and then the precipitate was taken out by filtration. Thus obtained precipitate was recrystallized from ethanol to obtain 4.4 g (yield: 53%) of a white crystal.
