Vorschrift

0.03 mol of 2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)cyclopentanone was dissolved in mL anhydrous acetonitrile, treated with 8.4 g (0.09 mol) of N,N-dimethyl-methylene ammonium chloride under refluxing, refluxed for 12 h to yield a solid product which was suction filtered, dried and recrystallized in acetonitrile/chloroform to yield 2-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-5-dimethylaminomethyl-cyclopentanone hydrochloride with a yield of 91.1%.
