Vorschrift

5.2 g (0.03 mol) of 2-benzylidene-cyclopentanone was dissolved in 30 mL anhydrous acetonitrile, treated with 8.4 g (0.09 mol) of N,N-dimethyl-methylene ammonium chloride under refluxing, refluxed for 12 h to yield a solid product, then suction filtered and dried, and recrystallized in acetonitrile/chloroform to give 2-benzylidene-5-dimethylaminomethyl cyclopentanone hydrochloride with a yield of 76.2%.
