Vorschrift

The hydroxymethyl compound 2,4-diamino-5-propylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-methanol (III-1) was treated with dry HBr in AcOH as reported for 6-(bromomethyl)-2,4-diaminopyrido [2,3-d]pyrimidine (III-2, where R1 is H). Addition of Et2O caused precipitation of yellow solid which was collected with the aid of Et2O and dried in vacuo to afford the HBr salt of the product (III-3).
