By following serially the procedures of examples 2 and 3 and using an equivalent amount of 4,6-dimethoxy-1-naphthalenecarboxylic acid of example 61 instead of 5-bromo-1-naphthalenecarboxylic acid; N-[(4,6-dimethoxy-1-naphthalenyl)thioxomethyl]-N-methylglycine methyl ester (I, R1 and R2 =CH3, R3 =4-CH3O, R4 =6-CH3O and R5 =H); mp 105°-107° C.; NMR (CDCl3) δ 3.05 (s, 3H), 3.85 (s, 3H), 3.90 (s, 3H), 4.0 (s, 3H), 4.8 (2d, J=20 Hz, 2H), 7.3 (m, 5H); was obtained via N-[(4,6-dimethoxy-1-naphthalenyl)carbonyl]-N-methylglycine methyl ester; NMR (CDCl3) δ 2.75 (s, 1H), 3.7 (s, 3H), 3.9 (s, 3H), 4.0 (s, 3H), 4.35 (s, 2H), 7.4 (m, 5H).
