To a solution of {4-[4-(2-bromoacetyl)-phenyl]-cyclohexyl}-acetic acid ethyl ester (100 mg, 0.272 mmol) in EtOH/THF (4:1 v/v, 5 mL) is added 3-methoxyphenylthiourea (99.6 mg, 0.272 mmol) and Na2CO3 (58 mg, 0.545 mmol). The reaction mixture is allowed to stir at 50° C. for 3 h. The reaction mixture is used directly in the next step: (M+H)+451.1.
