The synthesis was carried out in three steps, according to the following scheme: ##STR8## 2.1. Synthesis of (+)-(2S, 3R)-2-hydroxy-3-methylpentanoic acid [6]This compound was synthesised from (+)-L-allo isoleucine [5] ([α]D20 =+37° (5% in 6M HCl)) as described in 1.1. (yield: 93%).
