Vorschrift

A 250 mL flask was charged with 20 mL of water and 2.0 g (13.4 mmol) of D-penicillamine. To the resulting colorless solution was added 1.4 g (13.3 mmol) of benzaldehyde dropwise over 2 minutes. The resulting suspension was stirred vigorously for 30 minutes and allowed to stand at room temperature overnight. The solids thus obtained were collected by filtration to yield 3.0 g (12.6 mmol) of the title thiazolidine.
