To a solution of ethyl 3-(3-((6-(2,2-dimethylpropyl)-5-(2-fluoro-5-methoxyphenyl)pyridin-2-yl)methoxy)-5-methylphenyl)propanoate (400 mg) in methanol (4.0 ml) and THF (8.0 mL) was added 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (8.0 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 15 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and 1N hydrochloric acid was added to the residue to adjust to pH<4. The reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the extract was washed with saturated brine. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (249 mg) as a pale-yellow oil.
