A solution of Nα -[2-acetylthiomethyl-5-(p-methoxybenzyloxycarbonylamino)pentanoyl]-L-arginine (1 g) in trifluoroacetic acid (10 ml) is stored at room temperature for fifteen minutes, and then concentrated to dryness in vacuo to yield Nα -(2-acetylthiomethyl-5-aminopentanoyl)-L-arginine trifluoroacetate.
