6-[5-(3-[1,3]Dioxan-2-yl-propyl)-4-methyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl]-2-methyl-quinoline (109 mg, 0.31 mmol) was heated in water (20 ml) and concentrated sulphuric acid (0.5 ml) at 100° C. for 3 h. The mixture was cooled to room temperature, basified with solid sodium bicarbonate and extracted with dichloromethane (3×50 ml). The combined organic portions were dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated to give the desired compound as an off-white solid (76 mg, 84%).
