Following General Procedure E, ethyl 5-(4-ethylphenyl)-6-(pyridine-4-yl)phenyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate (Compound 49, 48 mg, 0.14 mmol) and conc. H2SO4 (10 drops) in methanol were reacted to produce the title compound as a light yellow solid.
