الإجراء التجريبي

A solution of 4'-hydroxy-4-cyanobiphenyl (11.7 g, 60 mmol) was treated with 1,4-dibromobutane (38.9 g, 0.18 mol, 216) as described in Example 1. Recrystallization of the product from ethanol gave 4'-(4-bromobutyloxy)-4-cyanobiphenyl (6.15 g, 31%): mp 62.5-64° C.; 1H NMR (CDCl3) 7.52(s, 4H), 7.41 and 6.83(2d, 4H), 3.95(t, 2H), 3.42(t, 2H), 1.97(m, 4H); IR (KBr) 2225, 1605, 1581 cm-1.
