To a nitrogen purged aqueous (50 ml) solution containing 50 mg of PtO2 was added 50 mg of 1-(2-methoxy-5-nitrobenzyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-4,7,10-triacetic acid (prepared by the procedure of Example 23). After hydrogenating in a Parr bomb for one hour, the solution was filtered and the aqueous filtrate freeze-dried to give the aniline derivative as a tan solid (95 percent yield), MF>240° C. dec, and further characterized by:
