To a solution of N-(1-[(9S,10S)-(+)-2-chloro-9,10-dihydro-9,10-methanoanthracen-9-ylmethyl]-4-piperidyl)-2-ethoxyacetamide (2.24 g, 5.27 mmol) in ether (50 mL) was added a solution of oxalic acid (0.47 g, 5.27 mmol) in ether (5 mL). The resulting solid was filtered and dried (0.05 mm/80 C) to give the title compound as a white solid (2.26 g, 83%), mp 193.0°-3.5° C.; MS(CI): 425 (M+H); NMR (300 MHz,DMSO-d6): 1.14(t, 3H, J=7.0 Hz), 1.67-1.79(br m, 4H), 2.58(s, 2H), 2.79(m, 2H), 3.25(m, 2H), 3.47(q, 2H, J=7.0 Hz), 3.70-3.88(br m, 3H), 4.41(s, 1H), 6.98(m, 3H), 7.30(m, 4H), 7.68(m, 1H).
