To a solution of 21-7 (0.8255 mmol) in EtOH (5 mL) was added 1N NaOH (1.0 ml, 1.0 mmol). After stirring for 1 hour, the solvents were evaporated and the residue was chromatographed (silica gel, 20:10:1:1 followed by 15:10:1:1 ethyl acetate/EtOH/water/NH4OH) to give 21-8 as a white solid.
