الإجراء التجريبي

To a stirred solution of methyl 3-ethylcyclopent-1-enecarboxylate (1.60 g, 10.3 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) was added 10% Pd/C (100 mg), and the mixture was purged with hydrogen for 10 minutes. Then reaction mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 16 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere (balloon). The reaction mixture was then filtered through a pad of celite, and the filtrate was concentrated to dryness to afford methyl 3-ethylcyclopentanecarboxylate as a mixture of cis and trans isomers.
