In accordance with Example No. 3, 15 g of (2-amino-5-chloro-3-methoxyphenyl)acetonitrile were brought to reflux in 150 ml of acetic acid. 11.2 g of 5-chloro-7-methoxy-1,3-dihydroindol-2-ylideneamine hydrochloride were obtained (yield=63.6%).
