A solution of 0.24 parts of 10-methylacridan-9-carboxylic acid chloride(78) in 10 mL dichloromethane and 0.145 parts of 4-phenylphenol (76) in 5 mL of dichloromethane and 1 mL of tetrahydrofuran is treated as described in example I, to give 0.21 parts of 4,4′-biphenyl 10-methylacridan-9-carboxylate.
